Bible Study: XOXO, Love Jesus
We often sign off messages with "XOXO"—symbols of affection and love. But no message of love compares to the one Jesus sent to the world through His life, death, and resurrection. The Gospel is God’s ultimate love letter to humanity. And stamped across every page of Scripture is this truth: “You are loved.”
This study unpacks the Gospel—the “Good News”—through the lens of love, grace, and personal invitation. It’s the kind of message that changes hearts and eternities. This is the story Jesus signed with His own blood… sealed with love.
I. What Is the Gospel? (The Good News)
The Gospel is the message that God, in His great love, sent His Son Jesus to save us from sin and death, offering forgiveness, eternal life, and restored relationship with Him.
Why do we need the Gospel?
-
Because we are separated by sin: Every person falls short of God’s perfect standard (Romans 3:23).
-
Because we cannot save ourselves: Good deeds and religion can't fix our brokenness (Ephesians 2:8-9).
-
Because God made a way: Through Jesus, God bridges the gap between heaven and earth with grace and truth.
II. Bible Verses Supporting the Gospel Message
John 3:16 (NIV):
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Romans 5:8 (NIV):
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Ephesians 2:4-5 (NIV):
“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”
Romans 10:9 (NIV):
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
III. Jesus: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told
The Gospel is not about religion—it’s about relationship. Jesus didn’t come to start a system. He came to offer love, forgiveness, and new life.
Reflection Questions:
-
Have you ever seen the Gospel as a love letter to you?
-
What does it mean that Jesus loves you personally?
-
How would your life change if you received that love fully?
IV. How to Respond to the Good News
God doesn't force His love on anyone—He invites. He offers a new life, but it begins with a response of faith and surrender.
Steps to respond to the Gospel:
-
Admit your need for a Savior. (Romans 3:23)
-
Believe in Jesus as God’s Son and your Rescuer. (John 1:12)
-
Confess and commit your life to Him. (Romans 10:9)
-
Receive the gift of salvation. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
V. Practical Application: Sharing the Gospel with Others
The Gospel is too good to keep to ourselves. When we understand what Jesus has done for us, we are moved to share it with others—with both boldness and love.
Ways to share:
-
Live it out: Let your life reflect Jesus’ love and peace.
-
Share your story: Your personal testimony can reach people in ways sermons can’t.
-
Give an invite: Whether it’s to church, a Bible study, or just a deeper conversation—extend the invitation.
-
Offer encouragement: Text someone a verse or note of hope, signed “XOXO, Love Jesus.”
Conclusion
The message of the Gospel is simple, yet life-changing: You are fully known and still fully loved. Jesus died for you, rose for you, and is calling you into relationship. His love is eternal. His grace is enough. And His invitation is personal.
